A small catch, though. The 45 day period is only applicable if you subscribe for six months or more. One month subscribers only benefit from a 14-day money-back guarantee. At least they take a “no questions asked” approach, which is always welcome.

The customer support reps might ask:
- Whether they can assist you with any technical problems – Fair enough. Technical issues (such as slow speeds) aren’t always a cue to ask for a refund. Customer support might be able to solve your problem if you let them know the details.

A constant list-topper due to their vast experience in the industry. ExpressVPN has a decent amount of servers (3000+) in over 90 countries all over the world, and all-around quality service. Now, their monthly subscription can be a bit pricier than the competition. But as with other providers, the price goes down if you commit to a longer sub.
Their 30-day money-back guarantee is exactly as advertised in their TOS. We’ve found no “catches” in their refund policy, so to speak. Although, there is this bit of info that might interest you:
Basically, if you get a one month sub and then decide to upgrade to six months or longer, you won’t be able to ask for your money back. Yes, even if you’re still within the specified 30 days. The same applies if you purchase a new subscription under the same account (after you haven’t used the service for a while, for example).
Also, be aware that the money-back guarantee doesn’t apply if you got an ExpressVPN subscription through the App Store. You’ll need to go through Apple’s customer support to get a refund in that case, as they are the ones handling funds going through the App Store.

The primary competitor to ExpressVPN – offering strong security options and a huge variety of servers (4900+) around the world. Like the previous entry, NordVPN tends to be on the expensive side for monthly subs, but their longer plans can go as low as $3.49 a month.
Their money-back guarantee is fairly to-the-point, and the refund policy from the TOS is streamlined as well. NordVPN even mentions what we prefaced this section with:
The latter part of the refund policy was a bit confusing. Specifically the part about “cancelled accounts [not being] refunded for the unused part of the ongoing service period.” We’ve asked a NordVPN customer service rep and they were kind enough to explain.
Pretty much what we had in mind. After all, it’s a 30-day money-back guarantee, not a 12-month free trial. This goes to show that it never hurts to ask customer support if anything is unclear to you.

At first glance, we’d like to say CyberGhost VPN due to their “no questions asked” policy and the 45-day money-back period. However, they lose some points because it doesn’t apply to month-to-month subscriptions. Still, 14 days can be more than enough to get a good grasp of the VPN’s capabilities.
ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and SurfShark are the “standard” choices – great overall quality, though nothing special to distinguish their refund policies. Then again, you shouldn’t need to bother with refunds if your provider is top-notch.
Mullvad offers a lower monthly price than other VPNs, but at the cost of not being able to unblock streaming platforms. Points for having those refund guides for all their payment systems, though.
In the end, you’re the best judge of which service suits your needs. All of these VPN providers are great at what they do, and the fact that you can test out their service risk-free is a nice bonus.
